Second Quilt Block Exchange

Gathering Fabric Quilt Shop, is happy to announce our second international exchange with Best of Quilting in Marcoussis, France. The theme of this second exchange is "Couture & haute couture". The interpretation of the theme is what we are looking for in this challenge.
Best of Quilting in Marcoussis, France is our swap shop. Swap Sisters will work in the same theme with a "theme fabric" chosen by Gathering Fabric Quilt Shop in Woodinville and another by Best of Quilting in Marcoussis. At sign up, you will be given .5 yards of the theme fabric to use in your project and extra to send to Marcoussis. We hope you will study this theme, become inspired and come up with an artistic block to send to Paris which represents Couture & haute couture (see ideas). In turn, you will receive a pieced block in theme from our swap sisters in Paris. You can expect something very exciting out of this challenge and international exchange, so please sign up soon.
- Enter by registration at the shop beginning January 20, 2009 with name, phone and email. $25 to Enter, $10 at sign up, $15 at turn in time.
The exchange is limited to 30 participants.
- You must follow the theme of the exchange as "couture & haute couture" Fashion and sewing may be considered as separate inspirational topics.
- Make a rectangular block with a smaller side of 30cm (the other size of the rectangle is free). Use the theme fabric in your block. Send fat quarter of the b/w theme and one other fabric with your block. Valerie states: "the technical you use to make your block is free".
- Susan states: you will receive a comparable block back which will delight you in every way. This block from Paris will become the first block of your new exchange quilt for 2009. You'll have the block and some fabric to get you going.
- Introduce yourself in a letter or postcard that will ship with the block and the fq's. Put your postal and electronic addresses on the letter.
- Deadline for your package (block, fq's and letter) for shipment is May 1, 2009. Turn in all block packages to Susan.
- GF or BOQ may interpret all blocks prior to shipping.
Ideas: dresses, mittens, gloves, coats, hats, shoes and accessories.
